Claire Wardle¶

Overview¶
Claire Wardle is one of the world's leading researchers on misinformation and information disorder. She pioneered work on user-generated content, media literacy, and solutions to falsehoods circulating online. Wardle was previously Research Director at the Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia Journalism School and head of social media for the UN Refugee Agency.
She holds a PhD in Communication and an MA in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania, and was a professor at Cardiff University's School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies.

- Information Disorder framework — co-authored the Council of Europe's canonical framework distinguishing mis-, dis-, and mal-information
- First Draft — founded and led the organization focused on building solutions to address misinformation and disinformation at scale
- Media training and literacy — developed comprehensive social media training curricula deployed globally (including for the BBC)
