Includes boundary construction, threat construction, dehumanization, scapegoating, and negative evaluation, often organized in temporal sequences within political and ideological contexts.
Key papers¶
- Gerard, Mendelsohn, & Lerman (2026) — unifies six mechanisms of intergroup hostility (boundary construction, threat construction, scapegoating, negative evaluation, dehumanization, action orientation); demonstrates their structural interdependencies and regular temporal organization in political discourse during 2024 U.S. election on TikTok, Twitter/X, and Truth Social
