Fact-checking interventions¶
Research on the design and effectiveness of interventions that fact-check false claims or correct false beliefs. Interventions include refutation (directly stating corrections), prebunking (inoculating before exposure), labeling (adding warnings to false content), prompting for accuracy (nudges), and crowdsourced correction (Community Notes). Fact-checking interventions vary in timing (pre- vs. post-exposure), audience (AI evaluators, human readers), and mechanism (emotional, rational, social).
