Rhetorical Structure Theory¶
A foundational framework for analyzing discourse structure. RST represents documents as hierarchical trees where nodes correspond to discourse units (typically clauses or sentences) and edges represent rhetorical relations (e.g., elaboration, contrast, cause) between them.
RST has been applied in the context of misinformation detection to understand document coherence and organization, though automated RST parsing remains a substantial bottleneck.
